Checking Fluid Levels

Some vehicles no longer allow the consumer to check the transmission fluid levels.  These transmissions are called sealed units.  At Beussinks, we have the proper tools to check the fluid levels on sealed units of all makes and models.

If your vehicle allows you to check your fluid, this is a great idea as long as you educate yourself on the proper way of checking the fluid.  Most vehicles need to be running long enough to warm up to operating temperature and in park to get the proper reading.  Because of the vast differences in transmissions today, we advise that you check the service manual of your vehicle for the proper procedure. You can also bring it to Beussinks and we will be happy to check it for you.

Transmission Fluid Additives

Some transmission additives are good, but MANY are not.  When the right ones are used, it can resolve some minor shift issues.  The wrong additives can temporarily seem to fix shift issues, but lead to faster failure of the unit.  When we open a transmission, we can actually tell if an inferior additive has been used.  Please consult with us before adding an additive to your transmission.
